Technical Observations

The patina is green with areas of underlying red and black. Some brown burial accretions are present. The surface detail is mostly obscured by raised green corrosion products, but some small areas are well preserved. Scratches on the terminal heads result from the modern cleaning process.
 
The two heads appear to have been cast from a model formed directly in wax. They are partially hollow. Incised lines in the heads may have been formed or enhanced by cold working. It is difficult to know if the shape of the hoop section is as it was cast or if it was elongated and strengthened by hammering.
